There has been a dramatic re-orientation of aid policy in recent years towards a greater role for the private sector in development, including policy changes in MFAT. The debates rage over whether this is appropriate, supported by anecdotes on either side. However, there has been little credible research that could start to build a foundation of evidence based policy making. Oxfam New Zealand has undertaken research on the extent and scope of New Zealand business investment in the Pacific and the links to sustainable development, and particularly to vulnerable and marginalised Pacific people.
Oxfam New Zealand is hosting seminars in Auckland and Wellington to share the outcomes of the research and to discuss the implications.
All are invited and welcome.
